The Toledo Kennel Club is a not-for-profit organization of dog owners, breeders, performance enthusiasts and show exhibitors dedicated to the welfare and advancement of purebred dogs. It is chartered in the State of Ohio as a nonprofit corporation and operates under the Rules and Regulations of the American Kennel Club. It is a member of the American Kennel Club and participates in the governance of that body through an elected delegate.

The Toledo Kennel Club is a public service and educational resource for the community. It is committed to the promotion of responsible dog breeding and ownership, conducts training classes for dogs and owners, sponsors seminars, health clinics and other events, and holds Dog Shows and Matches under AKC rules.

Meeting events are scheduled for 6:30 PM. Programs or special activities, if any, will be first at 6:30 PM with the regular meeting to follow. Meetings are the 4th. Thursday of each month, except that there is no meeting in November, July, orAugust, and the December meeting is the 1st. Thursday.

NOTE: The fee for 6 week obedience classes is $70; the fee for the Conformation classes $6 for each handler each night.

Advanced (Novice) Obedience: usually Monday, 6:30 - 7:30 PM., 6 weeks.

Puppy Class: usually Thursday, 6:30 - 7:15 PM., $35, 3 weeks.
Conformation Classes: 
Tuesday, 7:45 - 8:45 PM. $6 each night, no enrollment.

2016 Class Schedule:
Notice: Advanced Obedience Class, Novice Rally Class, and Intermediate Agility Class for November-December 2016 are now filled, except for Puppy Classes on December 8, 15, 22. Advanced Novice Obedience class & Introduction to Open Obedience: 6 weeks, $70 for each dog.

The prerequisite is a beginners class that includes loose lead Heel and Come on command. This class is a continuation of the Novice exercises, for the advanced novice student preparing to show in AKC Novice Obedience. Lessons are based on AKC classes in Obedience Trials for dog and handler to be prepared to work together as a team.

Familiarization with Rally stations, courses and handling techniques. All levels. Dogs should have previous training in beginners Obedience.

The class covers the elements of dog obedience and training methods, and provides the basis for more advanced obedience.

 Beginners: 6:00 P.M., Fun with Agility / Introduction to obstacles. Taught by Pat Lofgren and April Shaw.
 Intermediate: taught bt Jennifer Kronbach.
 Advanced: 7:00 P.M. This class is for the advanced dog and handler. The dog should be able to understand and complete all  obstacles and the handler should understand how to maneuver the dog through a course.

Socialization and puppy-level obedience training for puppies ages 3 mo. to 6 mo.

Conformation (Dog Showing) sessions- Show training for dogs and handlers  ($6 per handler each night, TKC members $4 each night, no advance enrollment). Classes are managed by TKC Conformation Director Sarah Armstrong, an experienced and expert professional handler who has earned Championships with 10 Gordon Setters.
Two rings are used in each class:
Ring 1
is used for basic Show Training of handlers and dogs, and paticipants will learn how handle their dog or improve their skills in the Show ring. Instructors will include Sarah Armstrong, and sometimes mini-seminars provided by Bill Sahloff, a licensed AKC Judge who is a TKC member and former professional handler, and who currently is President of the Fulton County Ohio Kennel Club.
Ring 2
is conducted in the same manner as at a dog show, with all of the ring procedures normally used in shows including gaiting patterns and individual dog examination. Every experience level is welcome. This Ring will be conducted by TKC members and others who are experienced breed Show handlers.

Obedience Practice
Note: No open practice on Wednesday, November 23 and Thursday, November 24, 2016 because of the holiday and also preparations for the Obedience Trial.
